What information do I
need to register a new domain name?
The answer varies based on the following two scenarios:
- Your domain will be associated with a Z3 Internet
web hosting account:
Z3 Internet will derive all pertinent contact information needed for domain
registration from your web hosting order form. If you want to host
your domain name with a Z3 Internet web hosting account, you should submit
your order via the web hosting order system, and not attempt to directly
register your domain name. If you need assistance, contact sales@z3.com.
For information on Z3 Internet web hosting plans to go along with your new
domain, see our hosting services
section.
- Your domain will not be associated with a Z3
Internet web hosting account:
You will be required to specify full
contact information for the following:
Organization - This is the full
legal name and address of the organization which is registering the domain name.
Administrative contact - This is the full
legal name, address, telephone number, and email address of the person
responsible for handling any administrative correspondence regarding your
domain.
Billing contact - This is the full
legal name, address, telephone number, and email address of the person
responsible for handling and processing all correspondence regarding the
billing of your domain registration fees. This party will be contacted
when your domain name comes up for renewal.
Technical contact - This is the full
legal name, address, telephone number, and email address of the person
responsible for handling all correspondence regarding to the technical
operation of all servers which will be operating under your domain
name. Note that if you are pointing your domain to services provided
by your ISP or another organization, they usually wish to be specified as
the technical contact since they are responsible for the physical operation
of the equipment hosting yoru domain name. If in doubt, you can
specify yourself as technical contact and then update your domain
record if need be later via our online domain management interface.
Name (DNS) servers - IP
addresses corresponding to your domain assets must be mapped into at least 2
name servers. Your ISP or hosting provider should be able to
provide you with the identity of the name servers allocated to serve your
domain. In registering a new domain name you will need to specify the
fully qualified names of at least 2 name servers serving your
domain. IP addresses alone will not suffice. Names are
typically of the form: ns.myisp.com , ns2.myisp.com , etc. If in doubt
as to what to specify, contact your ISP or hosting provider for the name
server info for your domain. If you are still stuck, contact sales@z3.com
for assistance.

you will have access to our web-based online management interface through which
you can make real-time updates to your domain record. You will have the

fees refundable?

Can I upgrade my
reservation account to a full web hosting account with Z3 Internet at a later
date?
Domains reserved through Z3 Internet can be very easily
upgraded to a full web hosting account whenever you wish. Such ease in
upgrade makes reserving your domain name now a nice option if you are not quite
ready to roll out a full web site. There is no fee to upgrade to a full
hosting account other than the normal web hosting fees applicable to the web
hosting service plan you select.
May I move a domain
reserved with Z3 Internet to point to hosting or other services provided by some
company other than Z3 Internet?
Yes. Once your domain is reserved through Z3
Internet and the domain name successfully registered, you have full access
to our web-based online management interface through which you can make real-time
updates to your domain record. You will have the ability to update such
information as contact information, name server information, and organization
info. This flexibility makes reserving your domain today an easy option
that won't tie your hands in future growth decisions you may chose to make down
the road.
Can I make regular
updates to my business card page?
Yes. When you sign up to reserve your domain name
with Z3 Internet, you have the option of either forwarding visitors to your
domain to an external website, or you can just utilize a 'business card' page
hosted on Z3 Internet's servers. Should you take the 'business card'
route, you will indeed have full access to customize the page as often as you
like. Updates to this single 'business card' page, as well as any
graphics utilized as part of that page, may be uploaded via FTP. So unlike
a static page some providers might provide, your 'business card' page can be as
original and dynamic as you want it to be. And all for the same low
yearly fee!
